Hacker Pschorr Oktoberfest Marzen is an Oktoberfest beer from Hacker Pschorr Brewery in Munich, Germany. One of the original six Munich breweries, Hacker Pschorr’s history dates back to 1417. The original site of the brewery is home to the Altes Hackerhaus restaurant where you can sample the brewery’s wares. Fun fact: Oktoberfest or Marzen style beers are stronger than traditional Munich Helles lagers, because there used to be a ban on brewing during the summer months. The boiling part of the brewing process was deemed a fire hazard, so breweries had to brew enough beer in March (März) to last throughout the summer. For the beers to last into early Autumn, they were made stronger - hence the birth of the style! Hacker Pschorr Oktoberfest Marzen is considered to be one of the best Oktoberfest beers. Pouring a pale amber colour, Hacker Pschorr Oktoberfest Marzen offers up a rich bouquet of malt aromas. The first sip reveals caramel sweetness, balanced by a slight bitterness from the fresh, grassy hops.
